CNC Build Project

Details

Freeside veterans, Preston and Eldon, will be leading this project to assemble and tune a smaller CNC for high-precision work, then design and build a full-size 4' x 4' CNC machine for the space as well.

PROJECT UPDATE: Congratulations to Eldon and crew on completing the desktop CNC machine. It's up and functioning. Feel free to visit and see it. It is worth noting that there are other computer numerically controlled devices at Freeside: various styles of 3D printers and CNC routers for example. If that's you're interest, it's worth a visit.

PROJECT UPDATE: The design phase of the full-sized CNC is largely over. The project currently (2/24/13) is in transitioning from the "design" to the "build" phase. The sparks aren't "flying" yet, but soon.

These projects will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in Maker culture as they incorporate most of the maker toolset: software, hardware, mechanical design, and fabrication. Come on by and jump in these projects offer something for all skill levels!

Membership is not requires to attend these meetings or to take our classes. However, all guests will be required to sign liability waivers, which is standard practice for makerspaces.

Freeside membership does get you 24hr access to the space with your RFID card, access to our Member message board, invitations to member meetings, a vote on how the space is used, and more!

Many of our members use the message board to find out about projects and events, so there will likely be more people than the Meetup RSVP count indicates.
