We are very pleased to announce the fifth AWS virtual meetup 👐. This time we are going to play with the Cloud, talking about Chaos Engineering. What exactly is Chaos, how to create a reliable system out of inherently unreliable parts. 🛑 For this meetup we all the talks will be in english given by international speakers!
See you on july 1st. Presentations will start at ⏰ 7:00 pm (Paris Time). Join us online 5 minutes before here: https://twitch.tv/sebAWS
🎙 Talk 1: Fundamentals of Chaos Engineering and AWS reliability - Patrick Higgins - Gremlin - Level 100
Patrick is a Chaos Engineer at Gremlin where he helps customers benefit from the power of controlled chaos. Join his session to get an in-depth understanding of what Chaos Engineering is, why it’s crucial to prevent outages, and how you can use it to build resilience into your own systems.
🎙 Talk 2: How to apply chaos engineering to serverless applications - Yan Cui - Lumigo.io - Level 200
Chaos engineering is a discipline that focuses on improving system resilience through controlled experiments that expose the inherent chaos and failure modes in our system.
You might have heard about tools such as Netflix's Simian Army or Gremlin, which can inject different failures into your AWS environment to simulate different forms of infrastructure failures. But how can we apply the same principles to a serverless architecture where we have no access to the underlying infrastructure? Can we adapt existing practices to expose the inherent chaos in these systems? What are the limitations and new challenges that we need to consider?
🎙 Talk 3: Verification of serverless applications - Gunnar Grosch - Level 200/300
The transition into more complex systems is accelerating and the granularity in serverless applications makes even smaller systems complex and highly distributed. Join as we look at how to verify the output of the system through chaos engineering and the advantages established by CI/CD.
Gunnar is an AWS Serverless Hero and technical evangelist at Opsio. He has previously worked as both a frontend and backend developer, as an operations engineer within cloud infrastructure, and as a technical trainer, in addition to several different management roles.
🎙 Talk 4: Continuous Resilience - Adrian Cockcroft - Level 200
How can we set everything so that we can be sure that the resilience we want is continuously available, and our backup plans will work when we need them.
