What we're about

We are a friendly group of French learners and native speakers who get together to speak French in a relaxed environment. We meet on the last Wednesday of every month in a bar in the centre of Royston for a drink and chat. Every level of French is welcome (but no under 18s, sorry)!

We meet at 7pm but feel free to turn up later if it suits you. We will have a reserved table with a meetup sign so that we are easy to find (or just ask at the bar).

On arrival, the Organisers will welcome you and sign you in. There is no annual membership fee and these events are FREE but we would appreciate an optional contribution (£1) to help cover the cost of running the group.

Please be sure to always RSVP to meetups you intend to join, so that we get an idea of numbers and other people are encouraged to come along too (you can always cancel if you can no longer make it).

We're very happy to meet again to practise our French. Please note the slightly later start time of 7:30pm. Our meetups take place at Banyers in Royston, in the Lounge Bar.

We're requiring a contribution of £2 per person to help with the costs of running the event. We've been paying the Meetup subscription fees for the last few months without being able to run in-person events, so we'd welcome contributions now we're up and running again.

So come along and practise your French in a friendly and relaxed environment - all levels are welcome! We'll be there from 7:30pm. Please introduce yourself to us when you arrive, we can then welcome you and sign you in. Don’t be shy - say hello and start chatting (in French, of course!) to new people!

There is limited free parking at Banyers but the Civic Centre (Town Hall) car park is free, a very short walk away from Banyers, and has ~200 spaces. For those coming by train, Banyers is about a 10 minute walk from Royston station.

Banyers often kindly put out some nibbles for us during the event, so if you have any allergies then please let us know ASAP. A reminder that as we will be in a bar the event is for over 18s over. Also we may take a few photos during the event to put on the Meetup and Facebook pages – if you don’t want us to use a photo with you in then just let us know.
