Bonjour à tous !

This group is ideal for anybody wishing to practice and improve their French with a trained teacher in a friendly atmosphere.

My name is Helene and I am a French native speaker with a PhD in French literature from la Sorbonne in Paris. I have taught French language & literature both in France and in the UK before moving to publishing.

I am a fun, reliable and warm person and have had many years experience of teaching/interacting with people of all ages and all levels eager to improve their French.

I've created this meetup in 2011 as a conversation workshop for intermediate level, and in 2016 a very good friend, Claire, has joined me to offer beginner classes too :)

We know how difficult it is to practice a foreign language and that is why we are looking forward to our groups: it is the opportunity to speak amongst a small bunch of friendly people about interesting and useful subjects.

You will learn vocabulary, become more confident and enjoy yourself at the same time!

BEGINNER CLASSES are on Fridays (6.30-8pm) in Barbican. You'll start from scratch, building your knowledge over time, through small exercises and lots of fun.

INTERMEDIATE CONVERSATION WORKSHOPS are Mondays (6pm-7.30pm - but it's very relaxed so feel free to join at 6.30pm if you can't arrive earlier) in Angel and Thursdays (7.50-8.50am) in Bank. You're welcome to talk about whatever you feel like, and build friendship with people over the classes, but I'll also be here to provide you with ideas of subjects if you get stuck. I'll let you speak but correct the major mistakes, explain a grammatical point, answer questions and generally help with the understanding of the language and culture.

After a while we could also discuss books, or go out to watch a French film, have a French dinner or whatever else we fancy!

Both meetups are totally informal, and you're welcome to have cafe, cake or dinner at the same time of course.

Please join for more details. Joining is free and you can leave the meetup at any time.

Looking forward to meeting you!

A bientôt !

Hélène & Claire
