What we're about

Photo from Te Wheti riser to Wainuomata hill walk.

Hiking to huts in the Wellington region on Fridays and returning back to normal life in Saturdays. Always felt like you got more out of the weekend. If you got ready Thursday night took your gear to work ready to go.

The group was born from about 6 tramps we would do on fridays afterwork in the winter. Never in bad conditions.
Blue range hut
Kapakapanui
Field hut
Herepai hut
Haurangi hut
Powell hut

Try to target huts max 2hr drive from lower hutt with about 4hour max hike.

Also been organizing night walks to help build fitness and confidence walking at night.

I know my walks are very Hutt centric but im just a simple hutt valley boy making use of the valley walls that contain us from the rest of the world.

If any one has any suggestions of town walks we can do please post. (must contain a kick arse hill).

For safety reasons i will only take people on friday night overnight tramps that i have walked with before and know their ability.

when night hiking the cold and/or a navigation error could be fatal so the group needs to be able to stay together. Its not about only super fit people doing the night tramps but the aim is to do the walk in the posted Doc times. if you can't do that in the daylight then keep working on it.
