Announcing a new Meetup for Friends of BWCA Trails!

What: Twin Cities USFS Saw Safety& Certification

When: Saturday, April 17,[masked]:00 AM

Where:
Bunker Hills Regional Park
5500 Bunker Lake Blvd NW
Andover, MN 55304
[masked]

Important note: For cross cut certification, you need to attend one day, either Saturday or Sunday only.
Q: Do I need cross cut certification to participate on BWA Committee trips?
A: No, you do not. Most of the fallen trees can be cut with a large bow saw. The USFS does not require 6-8 hour training to operate a hand bow saw or loppers. Nevertheless, BWA Committee recommends propective volunteers to attend the training and get good understanding of safe practices for trail clearing in the wilderness.

In order to operate a crosscut saw or chain saw on Forest Service property you must hold a valid USFS Certification card from. If you don't currently have one or if yours is about to expire, we encourage you to attend the Twin Cities 2010 Spring US Forest Service crosscut and/or chainsaw certification course on either Saturday, April 17th or Sunday, April 18th. (You need only attend one day.) As in prior years, the sessions we'll be held at the Bunker Hills Campground Visitor Center located in Bunker Hills Regional Park, CSAH 14/Main Street (Formerly Highway 242) and Foley Boulevard
Coon Rapids, MN . We'll be inside from 8:00AM to noon and outside "hands-on" in the afternoon. Note: If you want certification for both crosscut and chain saws, you?ll need to attend & sign up for both days.
