About us
The primary mission of Friends of Bates Beach (FOBB) is to maintain and legalize the traditional clothing-optional beaches in Santa Barbara County. We want to meet other like-minded people who want to help us with beach picnics and rallies and occasionally distribute literature in town.
A lot goes on in the background to allow us to sit at the beach on a towel. It is not really free.
We are a non-profit corporation and to cover our costs we ask for a $10 per year dues from our members, effective Jan 1, 2022. This is the price of one takeout meal per year! Larger donations are also appreciated. We thank you for your support.
You can pay on the home page of our website at www.friendsofbatesbeach.org, where you can also find more information about the group.
This meetup site will list many of the upcoming events, dinners, phone meetings, etc. We welcome all your first-time questions too, as we know you will probably have many of them!

BATES BEACH CLOTHING OPTIONAL SKINNY DIP DAY PARTY
Rincon Beach County Park, Via Real, Carpinteria, CA, USWe have invited several Southern California nudist groups to join us for International Skinny Dip Day at the traditional clothing-optional section of this beach!
The designated clothing-optional area begins north of the ramp, at the far end of the concrete retaining wall. We will bring a flag and/or a standup sign to designate where to sit.
If the beach is crowded when you get there with non-nudists, please move further north to a more deserted area where we can avoid user conflict. Never be nude farther south (toward the ramp) of where we are sitting, or you may be cited!Bring your own picnic supplies, chairs, bathing suits (optional) and sunscreen and make a day of it!
Because the nudity ordinance has not yet been amended, this is a “Bare as you Dare” Beach Day. Both the Sheriff’s Department and County Parks Department have assured us they will not issue warning or citations if nobody complains, so use common sense while nude.
This Saturday is officially part of Nude Recreation Week and designated as International Skinny Dip Day where we try and get as many people nude in the ocean at the same time. For this event, we have also joined with Team Planet Nude and SkinnyDipDay.org to support a fundraiser for the Fistula Foundation.
What’s this all about?
Obstetric fistula is a devastating condition affecting millions of women worldwide, and we’re dedicated to raising awareness and funds to help provide life-changing surgeries for those in need.
Our initial fundraising goal is $2,000, but with the passion and generosity of our community, we hope to raise much more. By participating in this event, you’ll be part of a movement that champions body positivity and significantly impacts women’s health and dignity.Help us hit our starting goal of $2,000 by donating to our team’s fundraising page at ??? Every contribution counts, and together, we can exceed this goal and make an even greater impact.
Mark your calendars and come celebrate with us at Bates Beach on July 11th! FOBB AND SCNA’s involvement as host will ensure that everyone has a fantastic experience while contributing to a meaningful cause. Whether you’re a longtime naturist or a newcomer, this event promises fun and camaraderie while supporting a worthy cause.
