We're new here!Join us!
Yes you can be heard and yes you can make a difference in our government's decisions and actions. This group will work hand in hand with the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCLN), based out of Washington, DC but active across the country with more than 20 Advocacy Teams consisting of approximately 200 people and continuing to grow. We work together to lobby our Senators and Representatives in Washington, DC with phone calls, in person meetings with their local staffers in Colorado, to build an on-going relationship within their office, learning how to write letters to the editor and opinion articles for your local newspaper and learn how to communicate with other citizens about legislation that matters to you but they are not familiar.
This training and group advocacy focuses on using diplomatic methods, connecting on common ground even with those Senators or Representatives that you seem to have nothing in common. (We do not use in your face, accusatory or aggressive tactics). As a group our local advocacy team lobbied/lobbying to pass the Iran Nuclear Deal, The Atrocities Prevention Board and The Sentencing Reform bills. We work together on a bipartisan level and although FCNL is a Quaker organization there is no need to be Quaker to participate. There is a large contingency of us non-Quakers in this group and we are known as Friends of Friends. The original group is based out of Boulder but we are establishing smaller groups throughout the Front Range. This group will center around North Denver, Thornton, Northglenn etc.
