An Overview of the Archaeology of Gold Butte National Monument

Join the Friends of Gold Butte for our first speaker series event of 2020, as Justin DeMaio shares his research and knowledge of the Archaeology of Gold Butte.
Justin is a professional archaeologist who has worked in the Southern Nevada region for almost a decade. He is currently employed by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), Lower Colorado Regional Office in Boulder City, NV, but has also held previous positions with the Desert Research Institute (DRI), State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Las Vegas.
Although specializing in studies of prehistoric lithic technology and computer-mapping applications of archaeological sites throughout his early career, he now deals with issues relating to archaeological policy, compliance, and management of a broad spectrum of cultural resources throughout the region. Throughout his career, Justin has had first-hand experiences of dealing with the history and archaeology of Gold Butte National Monument, as well as knowledge of the issues its cultural resources still face today.
Doors open at 6:30 pm, presentation will begin at 7:00 pm. Free and open to the public, donations are always appreciated!
