Gold Butte Road Repair Project 2022
Details
We did so great in 2019 that we're giving it another shot! Clark County Public Works and the Bureau of Land Management have approached us again about putting down more cold patch asphalt to further remedy the paved-ish portion of Gold Butte Road. Our efforts in 2019 culminated in 200 tons of material being used over a twelve-mile stretch.
We are looking for volunteers who'd be willing to spread the material as the truck dumps it in the various potholes along the way. This will involve using a shovel, and the BLM will provide safety instructions and equipment as well as helmets and safety vests, as we will be working along the road.
Many hands make light work, so the plan is to have 5 volunteers per weekday, from Tuesday, February 15 through Friday, February 18, and the following week, from Tuesday, February 22 through Friday, February 25. There will be a different Meetup for each day, so as to simplify signing up. Please be sure to make a note for yourself if you volunteer multiple days. If you are able, please consider signing up. Those who volunteered last time have said they enjoyed it, and, it's not as hard as they originally thought it would be.
You will need to bring lunch for yourself, and remember to wear sunscreen and dress in layers. You will need to wear a hard hat if working off the trucks, and those will be provided, but please bring eye protection and gloves, and wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. The weather is always unpredictable at this time of year, so be sure you are prepared. We will be parking along the road, so 4WD won't be needed. Please give Brenda a call at 702-613-5875 if you have any questions.
