What we're about

We're a group of people practicing Full Presence Mindfulness together. Full Presence Mindfulness is about opening up a new world view--a new vision of what it means to be alive. Instead of seeking out new experiences, we're learning to experience differently.

Full Presence Mindfulness (aka FPM) is an approach to mindfulness that examines the underlying structures of experience with a non-dual understanding. It can be practiced in every moment. By exploring what is going on in each moment — starting with breathing, hearing, and seeing — we can open into a world without self-imposed boundaries or limitations.

FPM grows out of teachings developed for the modern world by Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku. In 1977, he presented a new vision of reality, known as the Time Space Knowledge Vision, which is secular and highly experiential. As he wrote, its goal was “the liberation of the modern mind.”

Our gatherings range from casual social gatherings and open sits, to formal 8-week classes; intensive week-long retreats; and advanced modules and teacher trainings. We also integrate our mindfulness practice with other areas of interests, including mindful poetry workshops, photo displays, yoga practice, and outdoor activities. The beauty of Full Presence Mindfulness is that it can be combined with any activity, because every moment offers a chance to be fully present.

Who should join? Anyone who is curious to explore their own mind and experience with a close-knit group of fellow knowledge-seekers!

Revealing our inner potential through poetry and movement

Mangalam Center

$15.00

This event is part poetry workshop, part meditation, and part body movement. Bring pen and paper! Writing poetry is a form of inner expression, a means of bringing out whatever appears inside of you. If we could open more fully to our feelings and insights, our writing may become more wonderfully entrancing. Through movements of body – Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga – and the writing of poetry, participants will expand their creative boundaries. Two teachers will alternately lead meditation and movement exercises with writing sessions. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to share their poems at the end of the class. This workshop is offered once per month. The January workshop will explore the energy of feeling tones of Time. The cost is $15 per workshop. Teachers: Marion Frank, Brazilian, is a Kum Nye yoga instructor who loves opening the senses to Poetry through movements of the body. Ken McKeon, a retired English teacher, is a long time practitioner and teacher of the TSK (Time, Space, Knowledge) teachings of Tarthang Tulku. He activates the path of poetry most every waking day. When the two embrace, be ready for a ride.

8 week Full Presence Mindfulness Class

Mangalam Center

$150.00

Join our local community of mindfulness practitioners seeking wisdom and self understanding! This 8 week class introduces Full Presence Mindfulness, a non-dual understanding of mindfulness that can be put into practice in every moment. Through being fully present, we can activate a new vision of what it means to be alive. The intention is to aim deeper than reducing stress - although that may be a nice side effect - and examining the underlying structure of how we experience. By simply attuning to what is going on in each moment—starting with breathing, hearing, and seeing—we can lay the foundation for a new way of being. Another way to say it: it’s not just about wanting to have different experiences--wanting to be more relaxed, or wanting to be less negative. Rather, it’s about experiencing differently. This class is great for beginners or seasoned practitioners - anyone interested in learning more about themselves and their minds. Each session is a mix of practice and presentation of the underlying vision, along with discussions that are focused on asking questions rather than giving answers. It is taught by Jack Petranker, a close student of Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku who has been teaching and practicing meditation and mindfulness for over 4 decades. The course is every Wednesday from 7-9pm, from February 6-March 27, 2019. The cost is $150 for all 8 weeks.
