Potluck & Games at Rachel's Place!

Gainesville Bristow Manassas Area

Potluck & Games at Rachel’s Place! Bring your favorite game and dish to share for a night of food and fun in a relaxed environment. We’ll play a wide variety of games, including card games, party games, and strategy games depending on interest. Don’t worry if you are nervous or new to games, as we love to teach people. (Also, if you don't own any games, bringing one is not required since we have many to offer.) If there is a specific game you are interested in, let us know in the comments section so we can plan on having it there. Our current inventory of games includes: Cards Against Humanity Catan Citadels Codenames Codenames Adult Disc World Dominion Exploding Kittens Hanabi Llamas Unleashed Loonacy Lords of Waterdeep Pick-Your-Poison Pick-Your-Poison Adult Pit Proof Quirkle Risk Settlers of Catan Splendor Taboo Terraforming Mars Ticket to Ride Tokaido Unstable Unicorns Ultimate Werewolf, Deluxe Edition Wingspan This month’s menu includes: Garlic & Herb Roasted Pork Tenderloin Ratatouille (A French casserole dish made of eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, onion, plum tomatoes, cherry tomatoes) Mixed Spring Greens Salad Dessert: TBD ...but feel free to bring any food item even if you don't think it will "fit in" with the featured menu. If possible, include what you're bringing in the comment section below. It helps us plan better! (Check back because this menu will probably grow or change.) WHAT TO EXPECT: For security purposes, the actual address will be emailed just prior to the meetup event. My house is located behind another house, on the back of a long pipestem driveway. Unfortunately, that driveway is not eligible for parking since it is considered a fire lane. Guests are welcome to pull up and unload their cars, but will need to park along the street. ***There is a minor admission fee!*** Please bring either a dish to share... OR... a few dollars to help with the cost of food. Example: $3 to $5 (per person), or $8 if you feel generous. If you're not a cook, a store-bought side dish or wine is fine. Condiments, dishware, and utensils will be provided. Again, include what you're bringing in the comment section below. If you are donating money towards the cost of food instead, let us know that as well. It all helps us plan better on what, and how much, to make! Any left over money [which there probably won't be] will be used for the next event. Official dinner time starts at 5:00 and then we’ll retire to play games afterward, but guests are encouraged to nibble throughout the night. Gaming will continue until around midnight, but guests are welcome to arrive and leave as their schedule requires. Oh yeah... and I have two cats. :)

Walk around Lake Accotink

Lake Accotink Park

Let's take a walk around Lake Accotink in Springfield, VA! Most of the four-mile loop trail around the lake is well shaded under the forest canopy, and the trail is mostly level or gently sloped with a few short steeper sections, for a total of 183 feet of elevation gain. The walk will start and end at the marina, where seating, rest room facilities, beverage vending machines, and various activities such as pedal boat and bike rentals are available. If you follow directions to the event address, you can park in the main lot, walk under the train bridge to get to the lake, then turn right and follow the shore a few hundred feet to the marina facilities. There is also a secondary lot, which I prefer because it's closer and easier to access from the west, at 5660 Heming Ave., Springfield, VA 22151. At the end of the lot opposite the Heming Ave. entrance, there are two short walking paths to the marina; the one on the right leads directly to the meeting location. We will meet at 9:30 AM by the small square building highlighted with a red arrow in the event photo. We can start walking counter-clockwise around the loop when everyone has arrived or at 9:45, whichever comes first. The event ends when we return to the marina, which should be around 11:15. Naturally, attendees are welcome to stay at the marina for other activities or meet somewhere for lunch after the walk if they wish.
