Join us for the first in a series of meetups on digital development at the ABC. One team from the ABC’s Digital Network – it could be a team of developers, digital designers, UX specialists, project managers or data scientists – will take you inside some of their key projects and initiatives each meetup.

We’ll kick off with a technical session on the ABC’s new media transcoding system called Metro: a system used to convert various sources of content into a standardised format for iview.

Metro is a cheap, scalable, cloud-based system built in-house, and customised to suit our needs. It has successfully processed thousands of pieces of content since its launch in December 2015.

This talk will describe the system at an architectural level, and include the technical challenges faced, our results so far, and what we'd like to achieve in the future.

Join us for pizza and a drink from 6pm at ABC Ultimo, followed by the presentation and Q&A from 6.30pm.
