Family-friendly Bilingual Musical!
GALA Hispanic Theatre, 3333 14th St NW, Washington, DC, USTreat your children to this world premiere musical that sweeps you into the vibrant story of a shy 10-year-old whose life is forever changed after a chance encounter with a wizard in his mother’s auto shop.
Suddenly charged with a shocking new ability, Héctor discovers he is electric. Can he handle this new power?With book and lyrics by Salvadoran-American playwright Cornelia Cody, music by Aldo Ortega, and directed by Mauricio Pita, "Hector, el niño eléctrico" (Héctor, The Electric Kid) is a thrilling new children’s musical that bursts with humor and heart, sparking the imagination while asking a timeless question: how do we find the courage to embrace who we truly are?
PERFORMANCES: Saturdays, Oct 18, Oct 25 & Nov 1, 3 pm.

CAST: Ixchel Hernández (Héctor), Nadia Palacios (Patricia and Mariana), Camilo Linares (Hernán, Pepe, Mr. Delgado, and Soccer player 1), Delbis Cardona (Juan, Wizard, and Tonio Delgado), and Camila Cossa (Mechanic, Mrs. Delgado, Prof. Flores, and Soccer player 2).
DESIGN: Scenic Design is by Matt Liptak with Lighting Design by Arthur Kohn, and Costume Design by Rukiya Henry-Fields. Aldo Ortega is Composer and Music Director, Angélica Huertas is Sound Designer, Properties Design is by Tessa Grippaudo, and Gabriel Mata is the Choreographer. Solis Pettitt is Stage Manager and Sherry González is Assistant Stage Manager.

XXI FLAMENCO FEST: Crónica de un suceso
GALA Hispanic Theatre, 3333 14th St NW, Washington, DC, USJoin us for the DC premiere of Crónica de un suceso, created, choreographed & performed by Spanish artist Rafael Ramírez.
In collaboration with Spain Flamenco Arts, this piece pays homage to the iconic Spanish Flamenco artist Antonio Gades (1936-2004), who paved the way for what Flamenco is today. The performance recalls the points of inflection in Gades’ artistic journey, where Flamenco dance crosses barriers into contemporary expressions.
Ramírez is accompanied on stage by singers Rosa Linero and Fabiola Santiago, guitarist Francis Martín, and percussionist Cristóbal Sánchez.
PERFORMANCES: November 6, 7, and 8 at 8 pm, and November 9 at 2 pm.
