Introduction to the Go programming language
Needs a date and time

** If you'd like to sponsor our meetups please let us know ** Go is an open source programming language that makes it easy to build simple, reliable, and efficient software. Go was first developed at Google. It is a statically-typed language with syntax loosely derived from C, but with additional features such as garbage collection, type safety, some dynamic-typing capabilities, additional built-in types (e.g., variable-length arrays and key-value maps), and a large standard library. Go is expressive, concise, clean, and efficient. Its concurrency mechanisms make it easy to write programs that get the most out of multicore and networked machines, while its novel type system enables flexible and modular program construction. Go compiles quickly to machine code yet has the convenience of garbage collection and the power of run-time reflection. It's a fast, statically typed, compiled language that feels like a dynamically typed, interpreted language. https://golang.org/ These are some of the companies currently using Go: Google Docker Facebook NY Times Twitter Full list here: https://github.com/golang/go/wiki/GoUsers
