Talk: Accessibility on Android : Some assembly required
Speaker: Khevna Khona, Comcast
Build an app that is inclusive and progressive. Appealing to users with the widest range of capabilities is the right thing to do. With TalkBack, for example, a person who is blind can use your Android app. But Android's accessibility features don't work "out of the box" you need to do a little more work to bring them to users. Come to this talk to learn how to support accessibility in your app.
Talk: Build and scale serverless mobile apps with Firebase and Google Cloud
Speaker: Doug Stevenson from the Firebase team
If your app has millions of users, you need a backend infrastructure to support its growth. Do you want to build that infrastructure? Of course not! Your time is better spent focusing on the app. In this talk, we'll take a look at the code for a mobile app that works like a “universal translator”. It uses Firebase and Google Cloud services and APIs. And we'll do it "serverless" without having to manage servers or infrastructure. A live demo of the app will be done with audience participation - bring a phone or laptop!
Flutter is Google’s portable UI kit for crafting high-quality native interfaces on iOS and Android in record time. Flutter works with existing code, is used by developers and organizations around the world, and is free and open source.
Want to get started on building Flutter apps?
Join us for our Flutter Study Jam! Together we'll work through Flutter codelabs prepared by Google instructors. You will be able to get hands-on experience with Flutter and build a Flutter app while learning the fundamentals.
Bring a laptop! The course will run on all of the latest versions of the popular browsers. For the best experience, the laptop should have Flutter installed on it prior to starting the study jam to save time. Windows/Linux/Mac would all be fine.
