Talk #1: Predix Analytics
In this session, we will review the elements of Predix, a prime candidate to become the platform of choice for the industrial internet & IoT.
Can it really solve the hard problems that exist in the physical world and separate the minds and machines?
Are there any bottlenecks which may prevent Predix from conceiving, delivering and scaling some of the most important industrial advances of the next 10-20 years?
Speaker: Himaja Vadaga, Big Data, Machine Learning, Cloud Enthusiast
Talk #2: Cybersecurity of the IoT
The IoT is comprised of several ecosystems. However, we can distill these ecosystems down to the cloud, the border gateways and the edge devices. We've all heard the horror stories and had the hard sell of "buy my product and your cybersecurity problems will all go away". But, what does it mean to be secure? And, how can you be secure on an edge device that only has 64KB of RAM or less? In this presentation, we will highlight the concepts of what security means in an IoT context and discuss techniques than can be used in all three of the major ecosystems to harden your systems against cyber attacks.
Speaker: Mike Anderson, Chief Scientist @ The PTR Group, Inc.
Mike Anderson is currently CTO and Chief Scientist for The PTR Group, Inc. With over 38 years in the embedded and real-time computing industry, Mike works with a number of RTOS, Linux and Android-based devices in applications ranging from satellites and robotics to SCADA platforms and PLCs. However, his focus over the past few years has been the use of Linux and Android in embedded sensor applications and the deployment of Internet of Things applications. His past experiences in both offensive and defensive cyber operations provide a unique viewpoint on security and how to limit the attack surfaces of embedded devices.
