It's been a long cold winter and my hibernation has lasted much longer than usual, but now Spring is coming so it's time to enjoy some more hiking as well as some nice village pubs and some good company.
For our first hike of the year we'll be following an 11 mile route between the old fashioned riverside towns of Pangbourne & Henley on Thames. Lots of people walk along the Thames between the two towns but we're going to follow a much more interesting and scenic route across country.
Near the start of the route we'll walk past a large llama farm with hundreds of llamas.
After that we've got a variety of woodland, farmland and small villages before we stop for a picnic lunch in the middle of the hike. A couple of miles after our lunch stop we'll stop in a pub for a toilet break and a quick drink. After this it's a mainly downhill walk into Henley where we'll finish at a riverside pub for some well earned food and a drink or two.
We'll meet at 10:00 in front of the ticket office at Paddington Station and head to the platform at 10:15 to take the train at 10:27, arriving in Pangbourne at 11:31. We should arrive in Henley at the end of the hike at around 17:00.
The cost of the hike is £14.40, this covers:
organiser's fee (£4) group save return ticket to Pangbourne group save single ticket from Henley to Twyford (rejoining the line from Pangbourne to Paddington)
If you can't make it, change your rsvp to 'not going' and if someone takes your place you'll get a full refund to your Paypal account. If nobody takes your place you won't get a refund.
There are 36 places for people travelling by train from Paddington.
There are another 4 places available for people travelling independently by car and meeting us in Pangbourne. If you'd like one of these places please email me and I'll add you to the list. In this case you'll just need to pay the £4 organiser's fee on the day.
Distance: 11 miles
Meeting time: 10:00

At the end of the day, trains from Henley go once every hour at 24 minutes past the hour, arriving in Twyford 12 minutes later. From Twyford there are direct trains to Paddington every 15 minutes. Note that groupsave tickets require that you travel in groups of 4 people.
