Last Sunday of the Month Beginners Ride

Location visible to members

Happy new year to all of the Glasshouse Enduro Riders! To start 2022 off in an inclusive manner this is a beginners ride, if you’re above this level of riding please be courteous to those who are beginners. Obviously this ride is pandemic pending as things are changing by the day at the moment!!

This will be a ride with various terrain and gradients however we will try to avoid technical hills and obstacles (where possible). This ride will be suited to dual sport bikes however you must be running a nobbly tyre (no road tyres) as we will encounter slippery/loose surfaces such as gravel, rocks, clay and sand avoiding as much single track as possible.
However there will be ruts, roots, deep puddles on ungraded tracks.

We will ride at a safe pace for the slowest rider and if there’s more than 5 people we will use the corner man system. This can be explained before we ride.

The plan:
- Meet at Beginners car park at 07:00am and aim to be riding by approx 07:30am
- We will cover approx 65km to 85km depending on group.
- We will stop at Peachester cafe mid ride for a bite to eat and refuel if required
- Aiming to be back at the car for 1pm at the very latest

What to bring:
- Happy disposition & willingness to assist others.
- Registered bike & licensed rider or learner's permit.(no pillions)
- Protective riding gear = helmet, gloves and off road motorcycle boots - AS A MINIMUM. I’m sorry but I won’t ride with people wearing work boots.
- Trail side snacks for when we have a rest stop.
- Water.

1) BEGINNER - Basically just getting the hang of the bike and not ready to challenge the terain. Mastering the Clutch, gears, braking is what it's all about and flat ground does nicely.

2) AVERAGE - We know how the bike works thanks! We want to ride some tracks and get the hang of a how to ride up a hill and through ruts and rocks and varied terrain.

3) OK - I've seen most of the types of obstacles riding has to offer and a good idea of how to handle them, the odd push and helping hand wouldn't hurt. No crazy hills yet though!

4) GOOD - You've been around a while havent you!. Been on alot of group rides, bit of time up the front. Even have a crack or two at those killer hills when you feel frisky. Can handle most things but not always flat out.

5) REALLY GOOD - You won't find a track or hill that's gonna stop me mate. Even better I'm going to hit it with a hand fist full of throttle and not even slow down. I don't even mind riding flat out for a whole ride with only a couple of small breaks.

6) EXPERT - How many more times are we going to nail this sweet loop today ? I've been in/or going to the ISDE/Finke/A4DE soon, need to test the old endurance.
