Comic Creators' Group
The first in a series of regular meetings for creators of comics. Artists and writers who are currently in the creation process are encouraged to attend and meet others who are working through similar creative challenges. I will offer advice to attendees and I encourage everyone to bring copies of their work to share with the group, although it is not mandatory. A few ground rules. We will foster a creative and supportive space. We will offer support and positive encouragement rather than judging other's work by our personal taste. While we don't have to "like" everyone else's work, we want to acknowledge that making comic is tough and there is always something positive and constructive to say. ON THE OTHER HAND we aren't going to take constructive feedback as a personal attack. We realize the best way to fix a problem is to identify what is not working. It is in this spirit that I and the group will offer commentary. We strive to be very tolerant of ideas so long as they are not what would be considered "hate speech". Space is limited. Refreshments will be served. I might even bake something if we get a good attendance. We do have two cats in case you are allergic. It is a completely smoke free environment so don't plan on lighting, however if it's chilly I might even light the fireplace. Sorry, adults only so we can get real, cuss, make comics about whatever we want and general adult stuff. Who is this Mauricio guy anyway? I've been teaching art for just about 30 years and I teach a comics creation class at MIT. I've published several comics (which I'm sure you've never seen) and hundreds of illustrations. I am currently working on my first comic book series.
