(VVS) Foothills Trial, Laurel Fork Heritage Preserve,

This 14.5 mile hike, with deep forest canopy along the Foothills Trail, will include stops at Virginia Hawkins Falls and Laurel Fork Falls. If time allows we will venture down to Lake Jocassee. We will eat lunch at Laurel Fork Falls or Lake Jocassee. Laurel Fork Falls is epic in height and might. A short, steep!, bush whack grants access to the lower part of the falls and the best view outside of sitting on a boat on Lake Jocassee. This hike will require a pace that is moderate to fast due to the mileage involved (up to 8 hrs. on the trail). Approximate distance (in and out) 14.5 miles (according to Gaia GPS. But the sign at the head of the trail says 8.1 miles one way). Total elevation gain 3032 feet.
