Starting at Leigh on Sea, we join the Saffron Trail to Hadleigh Castle and continue to Adders Hill into Hadleigh Country Park with excellent views across the Thames Estuary. We continue through the Benfleet downs and return via Benfleet Creek following the sea wall past Three Tree Island to finish at Leigh-on-Sea with its famous cockle sheds, where you can join us for food and a drink or take the train back to London

GRADE: Beginners/Intermediate 16km/ 10 miles, good paths through woodland, country roads,rolling countryside and a few hill climbs. Approx 4.5-5 hours walking time.
ROUTE:
This picturesque hike through parts of the Darent Valley offers a rich blend of nature, history, and wide-open views of Kentβs countryside.Starting from the Anglo-Saxon settlement of Otford we walk through charming fields and woodlands, past the historical ruins of Otford Palace, and along the tranquil River Darent.
One of the highlights of the route is the chance to see the stunning lavender fields in full bloom during summer β a vivid sea of purple that makes for unforgettable scenery. We will take a short diversion to Castle Farm to enjoy the Lavender Fields shop before continuing past the historic estate of Lullingstone Castle, one of Englandβs oldest family homes still lived in today.
We end our journey in the charming village of Eynsford, where the riverside setting and local pubs offer a peaceful spot to rest and refresh before catching the train home.

The price doesn't include train or bus fares. Please purchase your own train ticket.MEETING TIME: 09:25 inside London Victoria Station, in front of the main train ticket office. If you're planning to meet us there, please DM me so that we don't miss you.
TRAINS: Train tickets not included. Weβll take the 09:55 train to Otford arriving at 10:31 journey time approx. 36 mins, Return train from Eynsford. Purchase your tickets on the day or in advance. Group save tickets buy on the day.
WALK STARTS: 10:35 at Otford station. If you're meeting us at Eynsford station, please DM me to let me know so that we don't miss you
WALK FINISHES: Approx. 17:00 at Eynsford station. Finish times depend on the pace of the group on the day and are not guaranteed, so please consider yourself committed for the day.

Deep in Dedham Vale, once an area governed by King Edmond of Anglia, runs the River Stour winding through surprisingly hilly terrain with rewarding pretty vistas across valleys, hills, meadows, and small villages rich with architecture and history.
Legend has it that a fierce dragon, with a crested head and razor-like teeth used to terrorise the surrounding villages, breathing fire at anything that moved and even killing a shepherd and his flock.
We hike the St Edmunds Way through the medieval villages of Wormingford and Bures St Mary, passing St Stephens Chapel where St Edmund was crowned King of East Anglia in 855AD. winding along the valley, following ancient waterways and tributaries and meadows returning to Bures St Mary where you are welcome to join us for a drink and some food or take the train home.
GRADE: Beginner 16km 10m 4.5 hrs hiking 200m ascent. This trail is on footpaths and tracks through, meadows and rolling countryside.
COST: Β£10.00 organiser fee pay on RSVP
MEETING TIME: 09:30 London Liverpool Street Station in front of the main ticket office.
TRAINS: We will be taking the 10:07 train changing at Marks Tey 11:04 arriving in Bures St Mary 11:29 Journey time 1hr 22mins. (Train tickets Not included, pay on the day or buy in advance return to Bures.)
WALK STARTS: 11:35 at Bures Station
LUNCH: Pack lunch
