Join us for two days of lovely early autumnal hiking along the beautiful South Downs way, with an overnight stay at a hostel with a view! This is an ideal weekend for anyone who has completed a few day hikes and now wants to have a go at longer distances/hiking on consecutive days, but doesn’t feel ready for some of the bigger wilder trips Go London has on offer. It’s also ideal for anyone that wants to build up to longer trips. Our two day walk will take us eastbound along the South Downs Way. We’ll be carrying everything we need for the two days on our backs (see what to take list below). Each of the day walks will be long with some steep hills and descents but assuming we have good weather, we will enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the south east. Day One: 13 miles (21 km) approx Meeting at Victoria we’ll take the train to our starting point at Amberley (we will meet at 08:55 for our train which departs at 09:36, arriving at Amberley at 10:57 - journey time 1hr 21). From Amberley we will join the South Downs Way. We will follow along this spectacular high ridge way which gives us stunning views across the south of England. We'll stop at the delightful Chanctonbury Ring with fabulous views in all directions for a packed lunch, before continuing on to our evening accommodation which is situated precisely on our route. Once at the accommodation we can freshen up and look forward to a relaxing evening with a cooked meal, and watch the sunset over the Downs. Day Two: (14 miles, 22.5 km) We'll enjoy breakfast at the hostel before setting out for our second day’s hike. Today’s walk takes us past the fascinating Devils Dyke and Ditchling Beacon, and the famous Jack and Jill Windmills. It eventually drops down to Lewes, from where we will take the train back to London. Price: £80. Payable on RSVP . What’s included: two full day walks along the South Downs Way, one night accommodation in hostel (mixed dorm rooms) and bedding, dinner (Saturday) and breakfast (Sunday). Not included: Transport to Amberley and from Lewes. Lunches - these can be purchased from the hostel or you can bring them with you. Train costs will be approx £32 (based on group saver rate). We'll be buying train tickets on the day, and will have to buy two separate tickets for the return. What to bring: A medium backpack with plenty of snacks, lunch for both days (see above) plenty of water. Toiletries. Walking poles. Waterproofs. Warm layers. Towels can be hired at the hostel. Recommend you pack light as you can, it’s only one night, and remember you'll be carrying all you take, so keep it light! ANY QUESTIONS: Please message me.
