Devil’s Punchbowl & Surrey Hills Circular Hike
London Waterloo Railway Station, Waterloo Station, London SE1 8SW, GBJoin me for a scenic countryside walk in the beautiful Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, taking in ancient woodlands, dramatic viewpoints, and fascinating local legends, as we explore a circular route from Haslemere
This delightful hike offers a mix of gentle valley walks, woodland paths, and moderate climbs to scenic viewpoints, giving hikers a true taste of Surrey’s varied landscape. One of the highlights of the day is the Devil’s Punchbowl, a striking natural amphitheatre renowned for its sweeping views and unique scenery. Along the way, we’ll also enjoy picturesque countryside, panoramic hilltop vistas, and a touch of local history and legend that brings the area to life.
The hike concludes back in Haslemere, where there will be an optional stop for a well-deserved drink before catching the train back to London.
🕘 Schedule & Meeting Info
- Meeting Time: 08:35 at London Waterloo Station in front of the ticket machine and under the large clock. (Alternatively you can meet us at the hike start point - please DM me so we don’t miss you)
- Train Departure: 09:00 train from London Waterloo Station arriving at Haslemere station at 09:53. Journey time: time 53m.
- Tickets: Purchase a day return ticket to Haslemere on the day or in advance. Group save tickets buy on the day.
- Hike Start: 09:55 at Haslemere Station
- Estimated finish: Approx 16:00 Haslemere Station
- Lunch: Please bring lunch, snacks, water, suitable clothing, and hiking footwear. We will not be stopping at a shop or a pub so have everything you need for the day.

Join GO London Hiking for a wonderfully varied adventure through Sussex, filled with sweeping coastal views, legendary landscapes, and fascinating stories. Starting at Hassocks Station, we follow the trail through Butchers Wood, heading west to Poynings, where the ascent to our dramatic lunch stop begins.
At 217m, Devil’s Dyke offers one of the most iconic viewpoints in southeast England—rich with legend, geological interest, and local folklore. From here, we follow the Devil’s Dyke Road briefly before joining the Monarch’s Way, a historic footpath said to mirror King Charles II’s escape route in 1651 after the Battle of Worcester.
Our journey continues through peaceful countryside into Hove, where we pass St Andrew’s Church—the final resting place of George Everest, the man behind the world’s highest mountain’s name. From here, a refreshing coastal stroll takes us along the Brighton seafront, ending our South Downs ramble in true style.

This relaxed evening social walk starts at King's Cross Station and follows the peaceful waterside paths of Regent's Canal, one of London’s most atmospheric walking routes after work. Leaving the bustle of King’s Cross behind, we enjoy quiet towpaths, waterside views, and a gentle urban escape as the city begins to slow down. The route continues through Regent's Park, offering green open space and classic London scenery, before looping back toward Great Portland Street. This is an easy, sociable walk designed to unwind, stretch the legs, and catch up with fellow walkers, finishing with optional drinks after the walk nearby. Perfect for beginners and anyone looking for a friendly midweek outdoor reset.

Hiking Leith Hill Tower and the enchanting woodlands of the Surrey Hills
Victoria Rail Station, Victoria Street, Meeting Point - website for map, London, GBJoin us for a captivating autumn hike through the splendid countryside of South-East England. This trail combines seasonal beauty, historic landmarks, and sweeping views — making it the perfect day out for nature lovers and social walkers.
Our journey begins at Holmwood Station, leading us through meadows and into the enchanting Mosses Wood. A gentle ascent takes us to Cockshot Farm, before we climb towards the highlight of the day — Leith Hill Tower, the highest point in South-East England at 313m (1,029ft). From the top, enjoy panoramic views stretching south to the English Channel and north to the skyline of London.
Descending from the tower, we’ll follow woodland trails lined with autumn colours and bright green mosses. Passing Snakes Hill and Simmons Copse, the path gently leads us towards Old Bury on the edge of Dorking. We finish by weaving through this historic market town, where we can stop at a cosy pub for a well-earned drink before making our way home.***
