Talk Abstract: Bringing order to the chaos with Eclipse Vert.x
Do you need to build scalable distributed failure proof low latency microservices but don't know where to start? All you need is a Java Virtual Machine. Vert.x 3 combines the power of reactive programming, clusterable message-driven architecture and a polyglot API to make that a reality. This talk presents the key concepts of Vert.x and how you can use it to build your next application. We will explore the basic concepts of Chaos Engineering and demonstrate as a microservice application can be prepared for the chaos. I'll illustrate how to prepare a plan, break things so you will be ready when failure comes. Rolling back is not a plan!

Talk Abstract: Concurrency with VertX in Kotlin
In this talk we'll discuss how to write highly concurrent web scrapper on top of Vert.x and Kotlin. Let's assume you want to have the entire LOLcatz archive on your laptop. That's thousands of pages you need to parse, to get those funny picture URL's from, then actually download them. I plan to demonstrate how the asynchronous model of Vert.x can help us with this very important tasks and get the maximum from your hardware. Also in this talk, some more serious stuff: pipelines, worker verticles, the EventBus and asynchronous work with the file system.
