Combine two of the best elements of summer as we grab our towels and favorite beach reads for fun in the sun at Millennium Park! Chat with new friends about what you’ve been reading this summer while building a sandcastle, lounging on a float in the lake, or running excitedly through the splash-pad. We’ll bring a cooler, some snacks to share, and plenty of sunscreen! Come with anything you like to have at the beach, and feel free to bring a friend or four (no kids under 20 years of age, please). How to Find Us: You can meet us in front of the beach admission gates at 12:52pm. Jordan will be carrying a blue umbrella, a large Victoria Secret white/pink striped bag, and wearing a pink coverup. “It was a pleasure to burn.” In a world where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. Guy Montag’s job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities–the printed book–along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television family. But then he meets an eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse, who introduces him to a past where people did not live in fear and to a present where one sees the world through the ideas in books instead of the mindless chatter of television. When Mildred attempts suicide and Clarisse suddenly disappears, Montag begins to question everything he has ever known.
