See all- [speed FOR BEGINNERS] Secord Trail + Pet Cemetary + LunchSecord Road, Uxbridge, ON
The rehearsal went...well-ish. Fast is hard!
This is a 5km trail. Parts of it are gorgeous. Parts of it are deep forest. Parts of it are obstacle courses of roots and boardwalks.
But parts of it are smooth and easy. So we're going to really push ourselves HARD through these parts.
That means we're gonna go fast where it's safe to do so. For the record, that's the first fifth, and most of the second half!
Fast means we'll swing our legs and pump our arms until our legs start to burn. Then we'll take a short break to recover. A few minutes fast, a minute break, lather rinse repeat.
Expert to jog a little bit!
There are some parts with a little mud, and some slippery boardwalks. Running shoes are a bad idea.
There's a pretty pet cemetery to help us unwind at the end.
And there's the best sandwich/soup/bakeshoppe just down the street for lunch afterwards.
For those who've been asking me "what does expert mean?", this is that answer -- fast.
For those who remember my intermediate-for-beginners hike, with monstrous terrain challenges and crazy elevation changes, I promise we'll do that one again in April. This is the exact opposite.
So, if you found that one too easy, come and see if this one presents a challenge. On the other hand, if you found that one too challenging, come and see if this one is easier. If you didn't show up last time, well then, come and see what all the fuss is about!
Please respond as to whether or not you're considering joining us for lunch at Annina's.
Fair warning, it is definitely tick season. Guess how I know.
