What we're about

A club established to bring people together to play dodgeball and have great nights out. To challenge the growing Dublin Dodgeball Club, to bring down the venerable Wateford Club and to defeat the mighty Belfast teams. Then go out afterwards and have an absolute blast because nothing brings people together like dodgeball. Please feel free to message us here or on our Facebook page if you have any questions about joining, everyone is welcome.

The dodgeball club is for adults over the age of 18.

Be sure to check out our Facebook page for updates.

As with other MeetUp groups, 3 unexplained no-shows will result in you being removed from the group.

Dodgeball

Needs a location

€5 per session by cash or revolut.

We welcome all levels- beginners and experienced.

Gameplay:
Dodgeball is a simple fast paced game composed of teams of mixed age, gender and ability.

Each game begins with the opening rush where 3 players of each team will run to the centre of court to attempt to gain possession of 3 balls. Each team automatically owns the furthest 2 left balls on their side of court whilst the center ball is up for grabs.

These balls must be brought back to the activation zone at the back of court before they can be thrown.

The aim of the game is to eliminate the opposition by either hitting them with a ball or by catching one of their throws. You can bring back one of your eliminated teammates by catching an opponents ball (FOFI- First Out, First In). Even if you fumble with a ball once the ball is in possession- not touching another player or a wall- it is a catch.

Each game lasts 15 minutes of 3 minute sets. Make sure to keep your wits about you when going to attack an opponent to avoid getting hit yourself!

Getting Out:
You are called "Out" when

  1. A live ball hits you, a piece of clothing or hair.
  2. An opposing player catches your ball.
  3. When you step into the dead zone (arms are allowed).
  4. When you touch or step over a boundary line.
  5. When the referee says so (😅 arguing with a ref in official matches gets you an out anyway ahaha)
