Double Feature: w/ Ben Dunn & Tana Tanoi! - GDoW July!

Victoria University School of Design

Ben Dunn - "Context is Everything: A Producer's Plea to Get Business-y"

A discussion of why having a little business context goes a long way for any role in a gamedev team, from tech artists and designers through to (and especially) programmers.
A few tips and examples for getting your head above what you're building to make sure you know why you're building it.

Ben Dunn is a producer and startup founder creating impact-focused games. His startup, Swibo, is an international award winning "Serious Game" for rehabilitation, while his current focus is in producing XR content with Wellington based creative agency, Wrestler.

Tana Tanoi - "The design of Tana's S.H.A.P.E from start to finish"

Tana's S.H.A.P.E is a physics puzzle game inspired by classics like The Incredible Machine and Polybridge, about moving shapes from A to B. In this session, Tana will tour the game’s development timeline, covering where the idea came from, to where it is today, sharing insight into the process.

Tana is a Wellington, New Zealand-based programmer and game designer, currently working at Dinosaur Polo Club. There, he’s worked on Mini Motorways, as well as notable updates for Mini Metro, and a whole host of tiny games and prototypes.

Doors open at 6pm, the talk will start at 6:30pm.
After the presentation please join us for snacks, drinks, and discussion afterwards(around 7:30pm) at Fortune Favors!
