Adding AI to your game that seems both intelligent and is fun can be a daunting and time-consuming task. Whether in conception or development, proper planning and execution can prevent hours lost to compiler errors or misbehaving agents.
In this talk, Matt will cover some of the core concepts that should be considered for every project. He will also present some simple techniques to ease the process of coding and maintaining your games AI throughout the entire development process.
If you are someone who is wanting to learn the fundamentals of implementing AI into a game or have an existing project that requires AI, then this talk will be for you.
Matt Dodd has recently moved to Wellington from Melbourne where he was the senior programming coordinator at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. When not teaching, he is contracting out his services in AI and scripting language integration. His current projects include the upcoming Spies and Soldiers by Ghostbat Games, and a yet to be announced game by Camshaft Software.
