Cobi's (Non-AL) D&D Campaign

Details

• What we'll do
Set in the world of Epheria, a medium-to-high magic setting, this homebrew campaign has a high amount of player self-direction. There will be many options of things to do and the party likely won't be able to do them all. The world will go on, however choosing one path may make other paths no longer viable and choices will affect the world.

This campaign will be medium-to-low lethality, meaning that not every encounter will be deadly, but I don't plan on fudging rolls to keep people alive. If someone in the party does something stupid, I'm not going to keep them alive just by DM fiat. Under normal circumstances, I don't plan on having any save-or-die instant-deaths, nor will I outright prevent fleeing, though fleeing might not always be easy.

Being an open world, with high player self-direction, there are powerful creatures that will completely out-level the party at low levels in their own lairs; but there will be signs of danger well ahead of time if the party chooses to confront one of these creatures.

Once the party is of a sufficiently high-level, the party will become aware of a world-ending plot by a big bad evil guy, which will likely become the focus of the party ... or maybe the party decides to ignore that, and then maybe they get dragged in anyway.

I expect the PCs to be some form of good or at least neutral in alignment, and to, for the most part, work together, not against each other; karma catches up to murderhobos.

I plan for the first session to be character creation, backstories, the party getting to know each other, expectation setting, discussion about what the party wants out of the campaign, and going over how the rest of the sessions will go.

New players (both to the campaign and to D&D in general) are welcome to join if slots are available, but I ask that you contact me ahead of your first session so I can work on weaving your backstory into the narrative and we can set expectations, both yours and mine. I do move people from the waitlist, so if you want to attend, feel free to join the waitlist.

• What to bring
You will need a set of polyhedral dice (which can be purchased at the store if you need them), a writing utensil, and something to write on.

• Important to know
If you are new to D&D, you can read the Basic Rules for free at http://media.wizards.com/2014/downloads/dnd/PlayerDnDBasicRules_v0.2.pdf -- If you like what you see in the Basic Rules. then purchase a Players' Handbook from Game Theory for the full rule set that includes more character options and expanded spell lists.

I may deviate from the rule book at my discretion.

If you wish to watch a session before deciding whether to join or not, you're welcome sit in.
