Join us Wednesday night online for a talk by Spencer Everhart
Players are more than the audience of the games we make, they co-create it with us. Is there really a game, after all, if nobody is playing it? What if, instead of thinking about players as audience, we thought about them as actors, their choices helping to shape the experience of the game? This talk presents a formalized framework for thinking about game design in this manner, informed by performance and sociology, in order to explore new ways of making better games.
We're a group of local video game developers who run a Discord server and host various public events centering around game development.
Come out to our monthly meetups to chat with other local developers. If you have anything you're working on that you'd like to get eyes on, video game or tabletop, feel free to bring it. It's a great opportunity to get feedback and discuss ideas about your project. Or, come with nothing and just hang out! No previous experience in game development is required to join! If you're a visual artist, musician, writer, or work in any discipline that can benefit the game development process, you're also welcome here!
There is free parking on the streets, and a paid parking garage. There are also plenty of food options in the Electric Works campus if you want to grab food for yourself on your way to the event.
