What we're about

Where do we meet and really connect with other gay men in London?

This is a MONTHLY wellness - and support group for gay and bi-sexual men held in Central London.

The group is based on the Creative Arts Psychotherapy and counselling work I provided ongoing for the charity Positive East in London.

New members are always welcome as as well as our much appreciated familiar faces!

The group provides an always friendly, supportive and safe space where your presence is always very much appreciated and your contributions always welcome. Each session will usually offer a specific theme, such as for example:

Isolation and family

Being in a relationship - is it important?

Love, sex, romance

Who am I - what makes me, me?

Do I feel I connect with others in my life to the degree that I want to?

How to find someone special?

What is it to be a man in 2018 - for you? Gender roles and gender fluidity

Our use of dating apps - what do we think of it? Can it be an addiction or is it sometimes a positive experience?

Dating

Monogamy - is it important?

Friends vs. sexual partners?

Age -gap - is it possible?

Addictions

Discrimination among men who love men

Loneliness

Getting older (and gay scenes obsession with youth)

How out am I - work, friends, family, extended family, sports etc ? Living a compartmental life

..and much more.. (suggestions always welcome)

• It is a place where you will be able to connect with other gay and bi-sexual men and where you can exchange your life experiences with them and your everyday feelings, no matter what those feelings may be.

• It is also a place where you will be able to be with others who live similar lives to you.

• It is a place where you will experience support and growth. Feeling safe to explore and compare your feelings, life stories and emotions is at the heart of this group.

• You share however much you are comfortable with - you're in charge always.

• It is a therapeutic discussion group which at times borrows elements from Creative Arts Psychotherapies.

'Hi Dan I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the group meeting on Friday night. You have created a safe and open environment and everyone seemed to respond with complete trust and joy in sharing. I haven't been in that sort of group with so broad a range of people, and it was really interesting to share such an important part of their / our lives in regards to our dads' K.L.

ONLINE VERSION - Gay & Bi LGBTQ+ Men's Wellness and Support Group

Dear members, new ones as well as much appreciated familiar faces, There is still time to sign up for the class and you can do so until the very last minute. I hope you are all well and keeping safe still at this most surreal moment in time. We will meet online THIS EVENING at the usual time of 6:00 pm this coming FRIDAY June 5th. ONLINE FRIDAY JUNE 5TH ! After the very successful meeting we had 6 weeks ago we decided to meet a little more frequently online. Meeting online has indeed proven a popular and very useful way of continuing our group and for us to check in with each other; and looking after this impressive little community we have established together where all are welcome. There seems to be a clear need for this and it is also an opportunity for those who missed the last meeting to catch up with the group, in the comfort of their own home. You will be offered to join us fortnightly during lock down and until we are able to meet in person again at our usual home in Covent Garden London. It has become apparent that there are quite a few issues around isolation, feelings of loneliness and mental health during this very surreal and difficult time where some of us are mostly by ourselves or sharing with flatmates or partners. This continues to be a very important part of our discussion among other new subjects which appear organically as we proceed with our fortnightly meetings. WHERE WE MEET: We will meet via Zoom which you can access on all devices and also as an app on your phone. You will receive the link to join when you add yourself to the meeting on MeetUp. I will send you the invitation to join our meeting ONE HOUR PRIOR to the time of the session. Please note that ONLY members who add themselves on here (MeetUp) can be invited. I have bought the Professional Zoom plan so we won't be interrupted in our meeting 40 minutes in. FEE: £5 is suggested as a voluntary donation for each meeting online, prior to the event, to help the group running during COVID-19 https://www.paypal.me/wellnesssupport Please note that it will still say 'unpaid' even when you have payed. I am aware that you have paid. It is just a technical thing from MeetUp. WHAT WE WILL BE DISCUSSING: SELF ISOLATION AND MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL DISTANCING LONELINESS CONNECTION ANXIETY FEAR TIME TO CONTEMPLATE AND THINK OF YOUR LIFE LIVING DIFFERENTLY TIME FOR FITNESS Other topics we have discussed in our group and may discuss again in the near future: Sex, love, romance Who am I - what makes me, me?
