What we’re about
Are you LGBT, a foodie and have a taste and thirst for adventure? Have you always wanted to join a dining club that will try out a wide variety of restaurants - from street food, all the way to fine dining, from American cuisine, to all types of ethnic cuisine Southern California has to offer? Then this is the group for you! If you happen to enjoy taking photos of food and every wondrous and colorful places that we visit, the better!
We have a wide variety of events to fit everyone's budget - from $10 to $15 at street food and certain ethnic restaurants, all the way to $100 plus for fine dining. Its up to you what event you want to sign up for to stick to your budget.
We meetup at least 4 times a month. The typical event will have between 4 to 6 attendees. The group age range membership is mostly in the 40's to 60's, but we have members in the 30's all the way up to the 80's. We don't care what age you are, since age is just a number. Good food, fun and adventure is ageless.
This is a very active MeetUp group, so advance warning - you will be receiving email notifications/updates on a weekly basis if you decide to join this group. We are a 10 plus year old group and have had over 1,600 events (and counting!). You do not have to sign up for every event we offer, but we do strongly encourage you to at least attend one event every couple of months.
Some of the events are limited seating dining events, so we strictly enforce attendance. If you RSVP, 'Yes' for an event, then we fully expect you to attend the event. No shows/flakes are NOT tolerated and will be banned from the group.
Most of the events will take place in LA County, but we do have events that take place in Santa Barbara, The OC, the Inland Empire, San Diego and beyond. We also have a couple of out of state events, and in 2015, we visited Utah and Arizona. In prior years, we have visited New Orleans, Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Mexico City, Patzcuaro, Tijuana and Ensenada.
Most of our dining events will have some other activity paired with it like visiting a museum, playing volleyball in the beach, hiking, etc. We recognize that while eating out with friends is a wonderful thing, it needs to be balanced with physical activities to help burn off some of the calories we consume. Some members also volunteer to host potluck parties at their homes. We are always open to dining and activity suggestions, but the emphasis of the events will always be about good food and good company.
If there's a restaurant, event or point of interest you want to try, we are always open to new suggestions for the group to try out. We celebrate food and life. We Live to Eat!
