The Gay Sunday Walking Group is a London-based walking group for gay men and women and gay-friendly friends and relations. It is run by its members as a voluntary "not for profit" club.
We usually have at least two walks every month: one is a half-day walk, usually in one of the greener parts of Greater London, and the others are full-day walks, usually in the countryside but mostly within an hour’s train journey from central London. On the full-day walks we used to stop at a pub or café for lunch in pre-Covid times, but for the time being we are taking packed lunches instead.
We welcome people of any age, and walk at a comfortable pace. All our walks can be reached by public transport. We also try to include parking information for drivers.
Although (as our name suggests) most of our walks are on Sundays, some are on Saturdays, and occasionally on a Bank Holiday Monday. We also plan to try out some walks on weekdays soon, on a trial basis.
Please note that we are an independent organisation that exists outside of Meetup; this page is our "shop window" to help people find us.
Because we are a membership organisation, we do require people to fill in a membership form and pay the membership fee, currently £12 a year (or £17 if you want to receive information by post not email), if you want to come on our walks. To find out how to do this, please go to http://www.gswg.org.uk and click on "How to Join" at the top of the page; alternatively you can email us at email@example.com to ask for a form. The membership fee goes towards the running costs of the group; none of the committee or walk leaders is paid.
Once you've paid the membership fee, we'll send you full details of all our walks and you can come on as many as you want for no further charge.
However, you are welcome to come on up to two walks to try out the group before deciding whether to pay the fee and come on more walks.
