*UPDATE* All boats are booked. None are available. If you haven’t booked yours already you’re outta luck. Good news is you can still go to the Mermaid side on your own.
Arrive at 10:30 bc this place is serious about late comers https://weekiwachee.com/reserve/
Let’s kayak the pristine waters of Weeki Wachee springs, 1hr drive from Tampa.
The kayak rentals by the state park have doubles kayaks, single kayaks and standup paddleboards. The double kayaks are $60, the singles and SUP’s are $40 and they are for a 4 hour rental. The paddle down is 5 ½ miles and it usually takes about 2 ½ to 3 hours to finish. Once you reach the end the shuttle service will pick you up and bring you back up to the top.
Here’s more info online. https://weekiwachee.com/kayak-rentals/
UPDATE: spoke to a park ranger about doing both the park and kayaking the same day. He said it would be difficult to do both in one day. Sorry to say my husband and I pick the kayaking over the Mermaid park.
So for those interested in only the kayaking we’ll meetup at 10:30 at the launch area, behind the Mermaid park. Be sure to RSVP your 11am launch ahead of time because they do sell out. If you cant find the launch area, the employees at can point your there.
If you want to see the Mermaid park you are still welcome to go. Either way you’ll have fun! Please post what you’ll be choosing so maybe we can have two groups!
