##Talks

#Sowmya Yellapragada - "Blow away the clouds with deep learning in satellite imagery"
The Copernicus Open Access Hub provides access to open sourced satellite imagery all across the world, throughout the year. This satellite imagery can be used for various analysis, including building detection, road extraction, and also detecting vegetation index etc. In fact, satellite data is being increasingly used to design smart farming practices around the world. However, this data is often riddled with problems such as cloud obstruction, especially during the gray winter months.

We implemented an innovative state of the art machine learning approach to remove those pesky clouds and accurately reconstruct the image underneath. We’ll discuss and present our learnings and some improvements we introduced along the way.

#Tim Kurowski - "Creating a map extension for Chrome browsers"

#Kara Lena Virik - "Multispecies Resistance: A Cartography of Love & Disaster"
We, as a collective of researchers, artists, and scientists, are creating a visual cartography that aims to inspire European inhabitants to appreciate their own nonhuman neighbors and territories through a multispecies lens.
Our mission is to visually translate the existing rich biodiversity and natural complexity of Europe, into something tangible, educational, and excitingly engaged with. Explore more project details here: www.bit.ly/multispeciescollection

#Ramiro Aznar - "When Geometry meets Geography"
When Geometry meets Geography contains the first chapters from a book I am writing about the complexity of representing (mapping!) human geography with tech. I had already presented it in a close environment and I would like to see how it goes this time in public (bit.ly/geometry-vs-geography).

##Please use our form if you like to present your ideas, problems, solutions as well in an upcoming Meetup:

##Aftershow
The Jitsi-Session is our place to hang out, so we can have informal talk later as well.

Best regards,

Riccardo and Michael
