Technology, Environment, and Security

Details
Join us for our monthly meetup! We have a fantastic set of presenters on a variety of topics relating to geospatial technology, climate, and national security:
Josh Campbell from Sand Hill Geographic will talk about EventKit, an easy-to-use web application that provides a simplified workflow for accessing geospatial data.
Monica Noon is the Senior Manager of Data Science for Resilience at Conservation International (CI). She will present on Trends.Earth (http://trends.earth/), an open source spatial analytical tool that assesses land degradation and land consumption for reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Christa Hasenkopf is an atmospheric scientist and director of the non-profit OpenAQ and will present on the impact of air quality open data.
Zachary Schulman, Arctic Policy Coordinator for the United States Coast Guard, will talk about how the Coast Guard is applying a holistic security perspective to respond to the rapid environmental changes in the Alaskan and global Arctic that are dramatically rewriting the governance and national security paradigm in the region. His talk will also touch on the new Arctic Strategic Outlook, a document that lays out how the Coast Guard will uphold U.S. sovereignty, enhance human safety, and promote stewardship of the Arctic environment.
Agenda:
