3D Mapping

Details
RSVP and join us for our monthly meetup!
This month, we will dive into three dimensional (3D) mapping. Flat (2D) maps are inherently distorted, but a cohort of scientists and technologists are advancing our capabilities for mapping in our native dimension: 3D.
Ian Kitchens from the VR team at Maxar will present Citybox, a software for viewing geospatial data in a 3D space.
Phil Devine from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) will talk about converting a massive terrestrial interior LiDAR point cloud with hundreds of millions of XYZ points into a usable product, such as a 2D floor plan or a textured mesh model, that can be visualized on a phone or in VR/AR headsets. He will also talk about the data collection process and best practices that he has learned operating terrestrial mobile LiDAR scanners.
Stephen Hanna from Vricon talk about how his company’s 3D data and solutions are revolutionizing geospatial intelligence.
