This event will feature two awesome presentations:
Presentation 1: Jim McAndrew
The NPMap team within the National Park Service is responsible for creating and maintaining a cartographic basemap for official websites and mobile apps. This talk will discuss how we collect, process, and deliver our data in a vector format, and how we are dealing with legacy applications. I will also go into detail on why we chose this direction, the format itself, and the different tools that are available for working with vector tiles.
Presentation 2: Omar Shehata from Cesium
3D Tiles is an OGC community standard that we developed at Cesium for making it easy to share and fuse massive amounts of 3D geospatial data on the web. This talk will go over how 3D Tiles works, and how you can use it to display high resolution 3D data like photogrammetry, time-dynamic LiDAR, 3D buildings and architecture models.
This Meetup will be hosted by Pennoni at 1900 Market Street Suite #300. Enter through the 19th and Market St doors and let the front desk know you're here for the WiGIS event at Pennoni. They will direct you to the elevators (it's on the 3rd floor). Follow the signs to the multipurpose room!
Thank you to Pennoni (https://www.pennoni.com/) for hosting us in their space and to ESRI (https://www.esri.com/en-us/home) for sponsoring food and beverage for this event!
