Black Rock Mountain State Park Pioneer Camping

Black Rock Mountain State Park

Join me for some of the best Fall camping in Georgia at Black Rock Mountain State Park in early November. Located in North Georgia, Black Rock Mountain is the highest state park in Georgia at 3,640 feet and offers gorgeous views of the N Ga countryside.

For this trip, we will be in the pioneer campground called Tsatu-Gi. It is a large campground with a main cabin (featuring electricity, fireplace and a communal table), four (4) adirondack shelters with several bunk beds each, a large firepit and pit toilets. The site also has running water and plenty of close parking. NOTE: The road to the campground is rough. Ideal for SUVs but small or low cars will need to drive very slow and be careful.

- Arrive Friday anytime after 2:00pm
- If you arrive by 5:00pm, stop at the Visitor Center to pay the $5 parking fee. If you arrive after 5:00pm, please pay first thing Saturday morning.
- Once at the campground, two options, 1) you may setup your tent wherever you like or 2) select a bunk bed in any of the four shelters (Pro Tip: If you decide on a shelter, bring some plastic sheeting to make a temp door for privacy).
- Dinner: CHILI/STEW CONTEST - Bring at least a gallon or more of your best chili or stew for tasting. I will supply the cups/spoons, etc. Winners will be awarded!
- After dinner, the remainder of the evening we'll relax around the fire with beverages and tunes.

- Breakfast/lunch will be on your own.
- The day is yours to do a you wish...relax in camp and read, nap, hike some of the 11 miles of trails in the park or head down to Tallulah Gorge State Park for other fantastic hiking options.
- Dinner: I will cook some spaghetti, garlic bread and salad. Veggie sauce option is available on advance request.
- After dinner, the remainder of the evening we'll relax around the fire with beverages and tunes.
