Let's celebrate spring with our weekly Beltline Stroll. We will meet across the street from Park Tavern at the start of the Eastside Trail, where we will walk to Krog Street Market for a beer or snack before returning to Park Tavern. This will be a casual and hopefully social event (I'd love to meet some new members!), and sometimes people may opt to grab a beer or snack afterwards at Park Tavern or another neighborhood bar if they're up for it. (Note: If you're running late just head to Krog Street Market and meet us at the tables outside. It's an easy urban walk and hard to get lost.) This trip is open to anyone over the age of 21. No children please. (And no drones.) Participate at your own risk. The GOC assumes no liability for meetup events.

Join us for a Multisport event – Paddling, Beach Combing and Sunning (yes, it’s a sport) in Myrtle Beach! We will stay 3 nights in Myrtle Beach for paddling and beach hiking. We will be paddling the Waccamaw river (8 & 16-mile options), as well as Murrell’s Inlet sea marsh area or the Intercoastal Waterway, perhaps both. You have the option of bringing your own boat or there are several local outfitters who rent boats. When we are not paddling we will be combing the beach or staying at a local private resort that boasts several pools, jacuzzies, lazy river, poolside bars, restaurant, and more. The private resort is situated directly on the Intercoastal Waterway approximately 4 miles from the beach and the Grand Strand entertainment area and the Broadway at the Beach entertainment complex. Lodging will be in Villas at the resort complete with kitchens, laundry and all the comforts of home. People will have to share beds or bring a sleeping pad/bags. Resort quiet hours are 10pm – 6am (city open all night), we will have to honor the hrs as we will be guests amongst many. No pets are allowed – no exceptions (private resort rules). If you break it you bought it – I will be handling the incidental deposit and expect all to own up to responsibility of monies needing to be paid (I doubt it will happen). This is a member only event, no guests or +1s. Must be 21 or over. Parking is limited, carpooling is highly recommended. Some may have to park off site if we exceed our allowed allotment. The cost includes lodging and 2 dinners (menu will be determined closer to time). All other meals are on your own, there are plenty of foraging opportunities amongst 100s of local eateries. The villas have complete kitchens with all cookware, full size refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, etc. Everyone is welcome to bring their personal dietary choice, but please be sensitive to others (i.e. no fish and other strong-smelling foods). The cost will be $125 per person payable thru PAYPAL (https://www.paypal.com/us/home) to [masked]. Please choose the "friends and family" option. Payment is due within 24 hrs of being on the list and there will be NO REFUNDS UNLESS ANOTHER PAYING PERSON TAKES YOUR PLACE. Again – 24 hrs to submit payment to [masked] via paypal or the offer goes to the next person on the wait list. https://www.paypal.com/us/home Kayak rentals are your responsibility. All paddling plans will be made closer to time dependent on weather and water levels. There are several paddling options and the 1st choice is the Waccamaw River Blue Trail and Intercoastal Waterway or Murrell’s inlet, but this cannot be determined until closer to time. J & L Kayaking has offered a 5 mile guided tour of the Wacamaw River including all gear and transportation for $40 per person. Daily rate of $40 per day for a 10ft sit n side and $60 a day for a 12ft sit on top. They describe their marsh inlet access as having ample parking and a nice kayak launch area.
