Alabama Water Falls

All depends on rainfall in Alabama as to how water flow is on falls. In late summer, most falls in Alabama are dry. Winter is the time to go see these.

This is an all day long road trip exploring NE Alabama sites. There is some hiking involved, but this is more of a photography trip, than a hiking event. Lots of time will be spent traveling, as this round trip will be close to 275 miles, do NOT expect to be home before 9PM.

At the moment this will be our traveling schedule for this trip : 1. Noccalula Falls 2. High Falls 3. other falls, if we determine we have the time.... 4. Little River Falls

Bring plenty of water, gatorade, lunch, and snacks. Hiking poles are highly recommended for this trail. WalMart or Target have poles for like $15. Might bring a cheap rain coat, Walmart has a poncho for 88 cents ! WATER SHOES will be needed if you're going to play in these creeks, its all slick rocky bottoms.

We will hike as a group, I'm a nature hiker, I look and photo everything that draws my attention. I want people who are curious about NATURE... who want to stop and ask... " What is this flower, tree, bird, rock, bug,?? " I may not know, but I'd love to find out. If you have a guide book...please bring it. This is a SLOW hiking group. Expect S L O W …. If you are a trail runner, my hikes are not for you. If this is just physical exercise and you run off down the trail, then you are on your own. There will be no 3 mph hiking with this group.

This is a non-drinking, non-smoking group.

MANSELL ROAD MARTA PARK & RIDE – if coming North on Hwy #400, take Exit 8, ( Mansell Road Exit), get in far left lane,at red light, turn left, go under Hwy #400, get in left turn lane, turn into Marta Park & Ride.

If coming South on Hwy #400, take Exit 8 ( Mansell Road Exit ), at red light turn left, you need to be in the right lane then, to turn right into Marta Park & Ride.

We're meeting at Mansell, to give people a chance to carpool, to save the expense and time logistical problems, if everyone met at the trip destination. Normally, the cost is computed by total mileage of trip, divided by mpg of vehicle driven and then divided between riders. Some clubs use .32 per mile, but regardless it‘s cheaper to carpool than to drive yourself. PLEASE help your driver with gas expenses on the trip.
