Meet at trailhead at Soco Gap Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Great trail to view the fall colors. We we meet at the trailhead at the Soco Gap Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway and hike a total of 9 miles on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail to Waterrock Knob. This hike is an in and out hike, rated moderate to slightly difficult. The difficult portion is the last half mile to the top of Waterrock Knob, which has an incredible distance view. Clingmans Dome on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee can be seen in the distance on a clear day.
The elevation gain for the hike is 1950 feet. Due to the storm Irma we may need to navigate our way around a few fallen trees. Waynesville, North Carolina is close by for post hike dining.
Driving distance to the trailhead is 2 1/2 hours from Charlotte Douglas Airport. Carpooling may be discussed on the message board.
