Sundog Outfitter will shuttle us to Fox Creek Access trailhead to begin our hike on the Appalachian Trail and back to Damascus, Va. This backpacking trip is 40 miles and will take 3 days and 2 nights. We will hike 13 to 14 miles a day.
Day 1 will be filled with some amazing scenery and interesting places, the Scales livestock corral, Little Wilson Creek Wilderness Area, Grayson Highlands State Park, Lewis Fork Wilderness Area, and the ponies.
Day 2 continues through the Wilderness, Mt Rogers, Elk Garden, Whitetop Mountain and Buzzard Rock.
Day 3 the AT and Virginia Creeper Trail merge for a short distance and cross some streams before returning us to our parked cars in Damascus.
Please arrive in Sundog Outfitter at 8:45 a.m. to arrange our shuttle.
The Shuttle fee is determined on how many people go. If 10 go then the cost is $8.50 per person. If fewer people go the cost goes up per person.

I think everyone knows to carry the obvious equipment, tent, mat, bag, rain gear, water filter, food, water, etc. This is not a beginner trip!
Even though this is a summer hike, the temperature can drop into the low 60s overnight at high elevations so pack accordingly.
This hike is limited to 6 people due to the Wilderness restrictions.
This is a strenuous hike due to mileage and carrying gear for 3 days. Only serious experienced backpackers should sign up for this hike.
