GetHiking! at Grandfather Mountain-RESCHEDULED!

https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/c/7/7/1/600_464871057.jpeg Grandfather Mountain is one of the highest peaks in the Blue Ridge Parkway at 5946 ft. above sea level. We will be doing one of the most scenic hikes, ascending over 2000ft. before arriving at Calloway Peak. This is a loop hike commencing at the Boone Fork parking area at mile 299.9 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. (100 Blue Ridge Parkway). We will leave the parking area and follow theTanawha Trail for 0.6 miles and then turn right onto the Nuwati trail. We will follow this trail to the Cragway trail. The Cragway trail connects with the Daniel Boone trail at Flat Rock Junction which offers spectacular views of the nearby mountains. From this point it is a steep climb for 1.7 miles to the top of Calloway Peak. After stopping to take in the views we will descend on the Daniel Boone trail back to the parking lot. Total distance is around 7.1 miles. https://youtu.be/L7QvUHJrz9M This hike is rated strenuous . Bring plenty of water, snacks and a packed lunch. The weather on Grandfather can be extremely changeable so please dress in layers and bring windbreaker/rain gear. This hike is not pet friendly also there are cables and ladders near the top and some exposed heights so not for those with a fear of heights or open spaces.
