RAGGED MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR TRAIL & PICNIC - EASY 5 MILES R/T
Details
We will hike from the UPPER PARKING area, 2.5 miles to the bridge at the south end of the reservoir, with a lunch stop on the way back. If not too overgrown, we can hike out to the peninsula.
DIRECTIONS: Please stay on the road all the way to the top. You will pass a lower parking lot on the right, opposite the entrance to Holiday Camp, that we will use, ONLY if there is simply no space at the upper parking lot, where the road ends.
Parking is often limited. For those wanting to CARPOOL the couple of mile distance: meet at 10:00 am at nearby UVA Research Park, 400 Ray C. Hunt Drive, C'Ville 22903. After turning into the complex from Fontaine Ave., turn right at the yield sign, then make an immediate right into the employee parking lot behind building 400. Park near the mailboxes.
Sorry, no dogs allowed on this trail.
Bring water! There are porta-potties in the parking lot.
