Hanging Rock from Love Gap, 7 mile out and back, moderate/strenuous
Details
I know the suspense of the Autumn colors developing is worse than watching paint dry. Join me for a return to Hanging Rock, in search of spectacular views from this iconic location on Three Ridges.
We will carpool from Fontaine Research Park, leaving at 0800. For anyone driving to the trailhead, meet us at Love Gap at approximately 0900. Reminder, do not block the Forest Service gate or the private drive.

This is a Moderate hike from Love Gap, Fire Road 306 to the AT, with rocky terrain and a couple tough climbs to get to Hanging Rock with 270 degree views of the valleys and the Priest. Some would say moderately strenuous. Prerequisite - please have hiked at least 7 mountain miles in the past month or so.
What to bring: Water, snacks, lunch, boots/shoes and hiking poles. We will be taking a nice, well deserved break for lunch at the mid-way point of our hike - so bring lunch and snacks!!
