5 mile hike
Starting at Lotus Temple, walk
-by the James River,
-by Lotus Lake,
-up 400 steps to

Chidambaram Shrine where Swami Satchidananda is entombed and who said his spirit will rest with those who visit

Nataraj Shrine overlooking the Lotus Temple, the James River and over to the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is our lunch spot.
-over to the organic farm which produces a portion of the food for the vegetarian community
-Up the Alcove Trail, a scenic narrow, rocky trail along the creek bed with many scenic rock outcroppings and the meditation cave
-Then back to Lotus Shrine via the wooded Lotus Road.
Lotus Temple opens at 2pm. You will be on your own there to:
- View and meditate on the Temple
- visit the Temple book and gift shop.
- watch a video about the history of Yogaville
We will leave at 2:45pm. There will be a post hike stop at the James River brewery in Scottsville on the way back to Charlottesville
Fees & Such:
Of course for the carpool to work, some have to offer to drive so others can ride. Riders, please give your driver $5.00 to cover their expenses.
And for those who are interested, there will be an opportunity to stop at a nearby brewery for a post-hike refreshment and food.
