GetHiking! on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (Part III)
Details
Our quest to hike the entire Mountains-to-Sea Trail during MST month continues with this 8.3-mile hike. We'll meet at the Shinleaf Recreation Area, then carpool to the trailhead off Six Forks Road. The hike is through Blue Jay Point County Park, up through the Barton Creek area, then past NC 98 up to the Shinleaf Recreation Area; this area is defined by the Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail as Day-hike sections 6, 7 and 8.
Hike rating: Moderate (length, some up and down).
Estimated hiking time: the last hiker should be done by 1 p.m.
