GetHiking! Night Hike on the MST

Our winter night hiking season begins, starting with our favorite evening route, Day-Hike Section G of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail along Falls Lake. This 4.2-mile out-and-back rolls in and out of the mellow coves along Falls Lake.

If you haven't hiked at night, this is a great opportunity to take a test drive: our lead-from-the-rear philosophy guarantees that no hiker is left behind.

You'll need a headlamp for this hike; we have a handful of loaners, that will go to the first handful of people who sign up and request a torch.

FYI Joe and hikers...The trail should be in good shape for your hike on Friday evening. I went out last week and did some clean up work. Enjoy your hike!

Grace! So you're the reason that section of the MST is always a joy to hike! Thanks much for your efforts.

This will be my first night hike. Will any headlamp do? I have one that I picked up at Home Depot.

I reckon that will work. Just double check the batteries before heading out.

Hi all. Looking to carpool from S. Chapel Hill/Durham before taking a spot here. Any takers? Thanks!

Just making sure that out and back 4.2 means 2.1 each way and not a total of 8.4.

Yes, 4.2 miles. Good to clarify!

I'm sorry to miss our first night hike but have a date with my adorable grandson. Not that you guys aren't special too but they grow up fast.
