Saturday morning the temperature will be around 50, the skies will be sunny, the trees will be on the brink of bursting with color. So we're going to hit one of our favorite fall stretches of trail — the 5.2 miles of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail along Falls Lake between the Shinleaf Recreation Area and the Barton Creek Boat Ramp. Lots of coves peppered with colorful hardwoods on this stretch, the fall color made all the more brilliant along the lake (not sure why, but it is).

We'll meet at Shinleaf, make the short shuttle to Barton Creek and start from their. An easy/moderate hike, hiking poles are recommended, at least a liter of water was well. Bring your camera. With rain forecast for Sunday, this could be your own chance to get out for a colorful fall hike this weekend.
