GetHiking! Midweek Escape at Umstead State Park

Details
Working from home? Going a little batty from a lack of human contact? Take a break and come join us for midweek hike at Umstead. In addition to being in an open environment around no more than 19 people (the hike is limited to 20), you'll also be engaging in two hours of the best stress relief we know — hiking.
We will hike the 5.9-mile Company Mill Trail, a lollipop loop that crosses Crabtree Creek and penetrates the heart of this 5,600-acre urban forest. The appeal of this rolling hike through hardwood and pine woods is enhanced by the emergence of spring, from the spring beauties and trout lily on the forest floor, to the budding oaks and hickories above.
This is rolling terrain with stretches of rocky and rooty trail; trekking poles are recommended. This is a moderately difficult hike.
Not up for a nearly 6-mile hike? You can hike down to Crabtree Creek and back, for 2 miles. Either way, this is a good escape, a welcome distraction.
